Getting a Dedicated Server? PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 28 January 2008
Since my sites have grown to a large number – possibly huge in the future, I’m condering whether to get a dedicated server to host my sites.

A dedicated server is a web server or PC on the internet that hosts websites or blogs and shows pages as viewer’s request. A dedicated server is within a network of computers, exclusively dedicated to one consumer such as myself or a large business, since it can meet many needs.

Dedicated servers are most commonly used in the web hosting business; hundreds of sites are hosted under one dedicated server. A dedicated server is considered to be the next step on from shared hosting environments. By having your own dedicated server makes you worry free about other websites slowing you down or crashing your server. Dedicated servers also give you total control, and allows for installing software on your website that opens doors for gaining extra performance.

The benefit of having a dedicated server is that the clients of the server can modify both hardware and software setup so they meet needs like quicker data access and effortless accommodation of traffic on the site.

But the price is not cheap – which makes me consider my plans. What do you think?
