It seems that storage manufacturers are already focusing on the next level storage solutions, ie the PCIE based SSDs. In fact, Fusion-io has teamed with Fatal1ty to produce their very own SSD solution which revolves a nifty 80GB PCI Express card.
Personally, I believe that the idea of PCIE based SSDs are terrific. In fact, there are plenty of these PCIE slots inside the computer which are not utilized, thus plugging in multiple PCIE SSDs inside these slots would definitely give you gigantic storage space. Not to mention, it seems that these SSD solutions can outperform conventional rotational drives.
Nevertheless, it’s still expensive purchasing these SSDs, since the technology is still rather new. You’ll need to fork out approximately $895 for the 80GB ioXtreme PCIE SSD.
